Give Where the Women Are

Global Fund for Women

When you give aid to women, what happens? Studies show that women use the support they get to build and enrich their communities. You give, they give (and you may get a tax break)—a triple win.

Here, three groups doing terrific work for women:

  • The Global Fund for Women gives grants (ranging from $500 to $30,000 annually) to groups in 172 countries that support causes like ending gender-based violence and promoting access to education. The Global Fund accepts requests in any language or format—a huge bonus for smaller, rural grassroots groups.

  • HealthConnect One trains community health workers to help pregnant women and new mothers. One of its biggest initiatives for safer, healthier births is the doula program, which gives under-served women support throughout pregnancy and delivery.

  • The White House Project is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization whose goal is to put more women in leadership positions—ideally, eventually, in the Oval Office.

Be supportive. What are your favorite groups that support women—and why?
